EcoFlow and Jackery are two of the best-known names in portable power stations: big rechargeable batteries with built-in outlets for outages, camping, vans and jobs away from an outlet. Both make models from pocket-sized to whole-home backup, so “EcoFlow vs Jackery” really comes down to comparing specific models.
Here we compare the two brands’ popular ~1 kWh models, the EcoFlow DELTA 2 and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2. We also show how to work out what size you need, so you don’t overbuy.
First, the two numbers that matter
- Capacity (watt-hours, Wh): how much energy is stored. More Wh means longer runtime.
- Output (watts, W): how much power it can deliver at once. This decides what you can run. A 1,500 W kettle needs an output rating of at least 1,500 W, no matter how big the battery is.
- Surge (peak) watts: a short burst for devices that draw extra power when they start up, such as fridges, pumps and some power tools.
For the rest of the spec sheet (cycle ratings, certifications and flying limits), see how to read a portable power station spec sheet.
Working out runtime
A rough estimate: runtime (hours) ≈ capacity (Wh) × 0.85 ÷ device watts.
The 0.85 is our planning allowance for energy lost converting battery power to AC. It’s an assumption, not a brand figure, and real losses vary with the load. DC outputs (USB, 12 V) usually lose less.
Worked example (illustration only): a 1,024 Wh station running a device that draws a steady 60 W gives about 1,024 × 0.85 ÷ 60 ≈ 14.5 hours. Check your own devices’ wattage on their label or with a plug-in power meter. Fridges cycle on and off, so their average draw is lower than the label’s maximum.

Specs as published by each brand or reported by retailers. We have not measured them. Outlet count and voltage differ between US and Australian/UK versions.
What the numbers mean in practice
- Both use lithium iron phosphate (LFP/LiFePO4) batteries. This chemistry is generally rated for many more charge cycles than older lithium-ion (NMC) power stations, which matters if you’ll use it often. The two brands rate cycle life to different end points (80% vs 70% remaining capacity), so the headline cycle counts aren’t directly comparable.
- The DELTA 2 has more continuous output (1,800 W vs 1,500 W). That’s the difference between running some higher-draw appliances or not. Check the wattage of the specific device you care about.
- The Explorer 1000 v2 is lighter and has slightly more capacity. If you’ll be carrying it to a campsite, the roughly 3 lb difference counts.
- The DELTA 2 can be expanded with an extra battery later (sold separately), which is useful if you’re not sure how much backup you’ll need.
Which suits you?
Choose based on what you need to run, not the brand.
- Mostly phones, laptops, lights, or a modem and router during outages: either works. You may not need a 1 kWh station at all. A smaller unit may be enough and cheaper to buy.
- You want to run a higher-wattage appliance (a microwave, a small heater or some power tools): check the appliance’s watts against the continuous output. The DELTA 2’s higher rating gives more headroom.
- You want to expand later: the DELTA 2 supports add-on batteries. Jackery’s expandable option is a different model (see below).
- You’ll carry it a lot: the lighter Explorer 1000 v2.
If you need more
- EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max: about 2,048 Wh and a 2,400 W AC rating (brand-stated). (EcoFlow US)
- Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus: about 1,264 Wh LiFePO4, 2,000 W AC rating, expandable with add-on battery packs (brand states up to 5,056 Wh with three). (Jackery)

How we compared
- We picked each brand’s widely sold model with about 1 kWh of capacity, so the comparison is like-for-like.
- Every figure in the table comes from the brand’s published specs, checked on 31 Oct 2026. Where sources disagreed, or the US page didn’t state a figure, we left it out or said so.
- We have not hands-on tested either unit.
- Neither brand paid for placement, and we currently earn from neither brand directly.
Safety and the “green” question
- Indoor use: battery power stations don’t burn fuel, so they don’t produce exhaust the way a gas generator does. Still follow the manufacturer’s instructions on ventilation, charging and temperature.
- Never connect a power station to your home’s wiring by back-feeding an outlet. Whole-home or circuit backup needs a licensed electrician and an approved transfer switch or inlet. That applies in both the US and Australia.
- Is it “green”? A power station only stores energy. If you charge it from the grid, its footprint depends on your grid’s mix. Charging it from solar panels can lower that. The bigger environmental question is longevity, so cycle life, warranty and repair support matter as much as capacity. Check each brand’s current warranty terms before you buy.
