Practical green living for real homes and rentals. We explain how things work, quote brand claims as brand claims, and skip the guilt.

Start with cleaner air · How we judge green claims

What we cover

Cleaner air at home

Air purifiers, humidifiers and monitors, explained in plain terms: what CADR means, what a filter does and doesn’t catch, and what official agencies advise when smoke rolls in.

Power and resilience

Portable power stations for outages, camping and small off-grid jobs. We compare published specs (watt-hours, watts, battery chemistry) and tell you which numbers matter for your situation.

Outdoor gear that lasts

Buying less, buying once, and getting things repaired. Warranty terms, repair programs and spare parts count for more than a new colorway.

Low-waste home swaps

Changes that actually reduce what you throw away, with honest notes on where a “swap” is really just a new thing to buy.

Label literacy

What “biodegradable”, “compostable”, “carbon neutral” and “recyclable” are supposed to mean, and the questions to ask when a label doesn’t say.

How we work

  • Numbers before adjectives. We start from published, checkable figures, such as a certified clean air delivery rate or a stated battery capacity.
  • Brand claims stay brand claims. When a company says its product is recycled, compostable or carbon neutral, we say who said it and link the evidence.
  • We say what we haven’t checked. Unless an article says we tested something, we didn’t.
  • No guilt. Small, doable steps beat perfect plans that never start.
